So, what is the most important part of skincare? There are many arguments on what the most important thing for skincare is. Many think that using a cleanser is the #1 priority, some argue it’s using a quality moisturizer. But here at Men’s Youth Shop, we believe that the routine is the most important part! You can have all the right products at your disposal, but not sticking to a skincare routine will make those products less beneficial. Consistency is key when it comes to clear, healthy skin! Regardless of your age, skin type, and skin goals creating healthy skincare habits should be your biggest focus.
What does it take to make a lasting skincare routine? Develop good habits! So, let’s go through some steps on how to develop successful skincare habits.
Step 1: Make a Decision.
Decide clearly what you are going to do for your skin. Develop simple, healthy goals, like clear up your acne, have brighter skin, lessen the effects of aging, etc. Defining goals for yourself will allow you to have something to focus on and a reason to stick to a routine.
Step 2: Create a skincare calendar.
Develop a skincare schedule for yourself, write down what products you need to use each morning and night and which products you use less frequently. On the inside of all Men’s Youth Shop boxes there are product usage recommendations that tell you how often to use each product in our kits. Do you struggle to stick to a routine simply because of forgetfulness? Make sure to set reminders on your phone so you don’t accidentally skip an important part of your routine.
Step 3: Always have Product on Hand.
Running out of product on a busy day can lead to not using that product for days, or even weeks. If you live a busy lifestyle, it can be easy to not have time to stop by the store to restock on your products. That is why we encourage subscribing to one of our monthly skincare kits, let us take the stress out of your skincare routine. You will no longer have to worry about running out of product, because you’ll get a Men’s Youth Shop kit delivered to your door each month.
Step 4: Never allow exceptions.
Don’t allow yourself to create excuses for not forming a strong skincare routine. Make yourself accountable. After a night out, or when you want to sleep an extra 10 minutes in the morning, push yourself to meet your goals. Skipping parts of your routine may seem small in the moment but can add up quickly to an overall lack of a routine and your skin can easily fall back to the unhealthy state that it previously was. In the beginning it will be easier to try and allow exceptions for yourself, but after being consistent for a couple weeks, these habits will become automatic. Once you get through the willpower stage of sticking to a routine it will just become part of you!
If you stick to these 4 steps you will be on your way to overall better skin and you’ll develop a strong skincare routine in no time! Good Luck!!
